    “uh-mal-gum”.

Once you hear it your mind recognizes the word. Amalgam: a combination of many things; a composite. To amalgamate: to merge or unite.

  • Who builds your skis?

We do. Every piece and part. Every slab of wood chosen for our cores, every edge bent, every core profiled, every ski laid up, every sidewall angled, every stone ground perfected, and every ski fine tuned finished by hand.

  • Can I get bindings for my skis and do you mount them?

We do offer free binding mounting on our skis. We work with a local ski shop here in Maine that has acess to most bindings on the market. Happy to talk bindings and find the right fit for your set up.

  • Where should I mount my skis?

The Made In Freeport, Maine line on the ski topsheet is the boot center line. This line is 7cm aft of the center of sidecut. This places on average your ball of foot over the center of sidecut of the ski.

  • What is the edge bevel for tuning?

All Amalgam Skis leave our shop with a 2 degree bevel on the sidecut edge and a 1 degree bevel on the base. In general we find this tune is ideal for most conditions.

If you’d like this to be different. We can tune your skis to your preference.

  • What color choices do I have?

Typically we offer a couple of different color options for our Topsheet designs. We also offer customer to pick their base color for their pair of skis. Colors are always changing so be sure to ask what colors are available when ordering.

  • Can I build a custom ski?

    Yes!

We can create a custom Topsheet design for your skis. This process adds $300 to the build to account for design process and accommodate revisions to the design as we work with you to get the graphic you’re looking for.

We can build custom profiles as well, this gets more complicated and the cost depends on depth of customization and materials used. If interested in a fully custom ski we recommend Scheduling a Call.
